Frequently Asked Questions

What is lampwork?

Lampwork is an ancient method of working glass by flame.  Centries ago,  small amounts of glass were shaped in oil lamps.  Today we use gas torches, but the name lampwork is still used.

How are glass beads made?

Glass beads are made by melting colored glass rods with a torch, and winding them around a stainless steel rod.  Different colors are added until the desired affect is achieved.  The beads are kiln annealed to prevent cracking.

What is annealing?

After the beads are formed, they are placed in a digitally controlled kiln at 950 degrees and held there for one hour.  Then they begin to slowly cool in the kiln over the next several hours.  This prevents stress from forming within the bead, which causes cracking.

How long have you been making beads?

I began making beads in 1998.

How do I order your beads?

You can click on the paypal button and pay through paypal, or send me an email and mail a check or money order.

How much is shipping?

Shipping is $2.00 for first class USPS regardless of how many beads you buy.

What if I don't like my beads after I receive them?

I want all my customers to love their beads as much as I love making them.  If you are not satisfied for any reason, just contact me within 14 days and I will gladly return them for a full refund.
